Frequently Asked Questions

1. How and where do I make my character?
Using the character application, go to the board titled Pending Characters and fill out the code with information about your cat!

2. What rank of characters can I create via the application?
You may create a kit, apprentice, warrior, loner, rogue, or kittypet.

3. Can my loner, rogue, or kittypet join a Clan? Can my character's history be that they joined the Clan when they were young?
This is dependent on each Clan's policy regarding outsiders. Please ask the clan’s admin before continuing with any plots.!
Streamclan and Summitclan accept outsiders though they would have to pass a test.
Lakeclan currently only accepts young, abandoned kits, other outsiders are not allowed.

4. Can my cat be [breed name]?
We allow most breeds, for example, you can make a cat that looks like a Ragdoll or you can make a pointed cat (such as a Siamese or Burmese); however, they cannot be purebred unless they are kittypets. Larger cat breeds are not allowed. Flat faced, hairless and munchkin cats can be kittypets only, they are not allowed to become clan cats due to possible health problems.

5. What kind of names can my character have?
We have an Acceptable Prefix and Suffix list. If you don't find the prefix/suffix you'd like on that thread, then check out our Name Suggestions thread! If you post the desired prefix/suffix, we'll take it into consideration and get back to you as quickly as possible.

6. Why did my male tortoiseshell (or calico) not get accepted?
Male tortoiseshells and calicos are extremely rare in real life, about 1 in 5,000, so they can only be won in an event or obtained in a litter role, which is very rare.

Activity Check Questions 

1. What is an activity check?
An activity check is a monthly thread that the staff post to, well, check to see how active people are.

2. Do I have to post on it?
Yes. If you do not post in the activity check, you will be marked as inactive, and after a certain period of time, your account will be deleted.

3. What if I know I'm going to be away for a while?
Simply message a staff member or post on our Introduce yourself! board. We don't need to know the reason, all we need is a heads-up that you'll be away for a bit.

4. What if I adopted a character out for a plot and their roleplayer's account was deleted?
If the member in question had their account deleted, and they did not say what to do with their characters otherwise, the characters involved in plots may be re-adopted out with fresh applications made.


1. Do cats have to be mates in order to have kits?
No! Flings can be a fun plot device.

2. How many threads do two characters need in order to request a litter?
One thread with ten posts minimum.

3. How many threads does a queen need to be pregnant in before giving birth?
One thread.

4. If the roleplayer of the mother never makes the birth thread, what can I do?
If the roleplayer of the mother does not make a birth thread within two weeks, the kits are considered born and you may begin to play them.

5. Are birth threads required?
Nope! You're free to send a message to the Clan's leader and medicine cat, the father of the kits, and the roleplayers of the kits when you're ready for the kits to be born.


1. What are rogues, loners, and kittypets?
Kittypets are all cats who live with and depend on Twolegs. They may still go outside, hunt, or even get into fights, but in the end, they'll always return to their human's homes. Loners and rogues, meanwhile, both live on their own. Rogues have been exiled from the clans, loners are cats born outside of the clans that are not kittypets.

2. How are high positions chosen?
Out-of-character, the staff members discuss the next leader/deputy/medicine cat/medicine cat apprentice.

3. What are the requirements for my character to become an apprentice, and then a warrior?
For a kit to become an apprentice, they must roleplay in at least 1 thread.
For an apprentice to become a warrior, they must have 2 training threads and a mentor. These can include exploring the territory or learning to hunt, fight, swim, climb, etc., as long as there are TWO threads. The apprentice may then do a Rite of Passage to earn their warrior name.

4. Who uses the Admin account?
Admin is co-run by our three admin: Fox, Illithri, and Sanuta. It is not used for roleplaying, only to post important information and site-wide announcements.

6. I need to pay someone for some sort of service, such as art. Where do I go?
Go to the Staff Requests board and post a thread asking for a money transfer from your account to another member's account.

7. My apprentice's mentor disappeared! What should I do?
If your mentor disappeared for two or more weeks, you can ask around about finding a new mentor. Post a new thread in the mentor finding board, ask in chat, or join in another training thread. As long as you have two training threads with a warrior with at least 10 posts, your cat will be able to attempt his/her rite.
